Baltic Sea Challenge
The Baltic Metropoles support the Baltic Challenge Award, a yearly competition designed to promote the development of innovative user-oriented information and communication technology (ICT) applications in the Baltic Sea Region.
The Baltic Challenge is a competition for innovative ICT solutions in public administrations, educational institutions, businesses and other organisations, facilitating daily life for citizens and customers. The Baltic Challenge aims to strengthen user-driven development and implementation of ICT solutions, promoting sustainable growth in the Region. An international jury evaluates the applications coming from Denmark, Estonia, Finland, Germany, Latvia, Lithuania, Poland, Russia and Sweden, as well as Belarus, Norway and Ukraine.
The winners had been announced at the Baltic Challenge Award's Event in November 6 - 8, 2007 during the annual Innovation Conference in Tallinn. The two main awards of 5 000 Euro were sponsored by INNOEUROPE
. The award for Best Innovation project was given to Tiketa electronic tickets’ distribution system
from Vilnius, Lithuania. The award for best eGovernance project was given to On-line Computer System of Support for the Crisis – Management Center of Olsztyn
: run by DART Uslugi Informatyczne, Olsztyn, Poland. The award of Special Recognition of 1000 Euro was sponsored by the company Kerfi AB
, together with NordicEdge AB
and was given to Medicum – registration via web to visit a doctor
from Tallinn, Estonia.
