CREATIVE METROPOLES project approved for INTERREG IVC financing

2008-10-17

The project ”CREATIVE METROPOLES: Public Policies and Instruments in Support of Creative Industries”  has been approved by INTERREG IVC Monitoring Committee! The project is among the 35 projects selected for financing out of 492 applications submitted.  

The aim of the project is to create a well-functioning, focused, flexible and efficient public support system for creative industries in the 11 participating cities: Riga (Lead partner), Helsinki, Oslo, Tallinn, Vilnius, Stockholm, Warsaw, Birmingham, Amsterdam, Barcelona, and Berlin.

The key tools that the public sector operates with are policies and support instruments. The project will provide ample opportunities for experience exchange and learning among the involved municipalities in order to increase the understanding of the decision-makers and the executive level about creative industries and their role in the overall economy. The objective is to increase the awareness about the policies and approaches that have positive impact on the growth and development of the creative sector, in order to enable to set the policies 'right'.

The partners of Creative Metropoles project: Riga City Council (Lead Partner), City of Helsinki, Oslo Teknopol, Tallinn City Government, Vilnius City Council, Hägersten-Liljeholmen District Council of Stockholm, City of Warsaw, Birmingham City University, Amsterdam Innovation Motor, Barcelona Activa and Berlin Senate.

The start of the project is October 2008.

Total budget: 2.44 MEUR
